Moving to Micro Weddings

The wedding industry is one that is directly impacted by what is going on in the world. Here at A Charleston Bride, we are always striving to keep up with times and adapt to the world around us in order to fit our clients needs. In the uncertain times of COVID-19, we are finding capacity restrictions, travel bans, and the fear of congregating in large groups is stopping couples from hosting large-scale events. After the first wave of postponements in the Spring, we began working with our clients to coordinate and design a more intimate event: the Micro Wedding.

A micro wedding is an intimate affair, typically no more than 50 guests, that celebrate the same time-honored traditions of your typical wedding reception but on a much smaller scale. You still have the opportunity for a sweet ceremony, the bouquet of your dreams, and a flawlessly designed tablescape, while incorporating the same high end details you were originally planning for the large reception. Clients are able to hyper-focus on those details that are most important to them while spending the weekend with their closest family and friends.

Because we are designing on a much smaller scale, brides are able to splurge on items that tend to get put on the back burner such as elaborate welcome bags, super custom bar packages and a multi-course meal. The micro wedding is a perfect solution for couples that want to exchange vows closer to their original wedding date while planning their “sequel wedding” on a date when they can safely celebrate with the rest of their guests.

For this wedding, our clients were looking to host a weekend of events in their private home on Hilton Head Island. The couple exchanged vows overlooking the beach in an intimate ceremony set for sixteen guests. Lowcountry Kitchen catered a wonderful plated dinner completely customized by the couple. The smaller group size allowed for exceptional one-on-one service during the event. “With the smaller group, ACB worked with us to select some absolutely outstanding NAPA wines - 95+ rated wines we probably wouldn’t have been able to have in a larger setting.”- David. Eloise Photography captured the details perfectly.

“ACB took care of every detail, and created a truly unique and stress-free experience, allowing us to focus exclusively on each other, our wedding weekend, and our families.  It was a once in a lifetime memory.”- David & Nancy
