Easter Inspired Weddings

Saturday, April 7th, 2012

Easter is a day full of gardens, pastells, and candy- why not combine these into an Easter inspired wedding? We think a color palette of aquas, pinks, and golds, along with fun candy accents and glitter egg bombs can be the perfect way to have an Easter wedding without it being themed or cheesy.

Select bridesmaids dresses in soft pinks, lavenders, and blues. You can mix and match for an Easter egg-like effect or keep them all in one uniform color.

Easter and sweets go together like Santa Claus and Christmas. Satisfy your sweet tooth with cupcakes and candy galore! Use pastel colors for cupcake frosting and select candies in yellow, pink, and purple. We also love the idea of a soft pastel-colored cake.

An Easter wedding would be incomplete with eggs used somewhere in the details- but where? To avoid being over the top, use eggs tastefully in your table centerpieces. We love Ruffled‘s glitter egg bomb idea- fill colorfully decorated eggs shells with glitter for the newly wed couple’s final exit.

A white tulip bouquet is the perfect Easter wedding bouquet. They are clean, fresh and still representative of spring. If color is what you are looking for, add robin egg blue to your bouquet.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

Friday, March 30th, 2012

Spring is in full swing here in Charleston, South Carolina. The weather is gorgeous, the flowers are blooming, bright color palettes are everywhere… but let us not forget about those pesky April showers that bring May flowers. What is a bride to do if blue skies turn dark on her wedding day? We’ve got some pointers for you.

First, let us say that rain on your wedding day is considered to bring good luck! The Italians even have a saying for it, “Sposa bagnata, sposa fortunata“, which means that a wet bride is a lucky bride. And with our pointers, you’ll have no need to worry about anything going wrong.

Begin to check the weather forecast starting only five to seven days before your wedding day for the most accurate forecast.

If you have an outdoors wedding planned, make sure to have a back up venue if there are projected showers on your big day. The place of your reception is always a good choice- call ahead and ask if they can create a set up for you. For lighter rain- tents will do the job in keeping you and your guests dry.

Have a cute umbrella ready for you and your groom, and possibly enough for your guests.

Pack a pair of alternative shoes, such as rain boots, for you and your bridal party. High heels are not the most convenient get-away shoes when stomping through  soggy ground.

Leigh Warren of A Charleston Bride recommends to “pick up a few bails of pine straw to put down after the rain if you happen to be having an outdoors wedding. This help absorb the soggy ground. Be sure to concentrate on high traffic areas. Also, because afternoon showers are notorious for stopping- just as suddenly as they started- we will sometimes wait it out & pass pre-ceremony cocktails to allow the rain to pass.”

Always be prepared and one step ahead, but above all else- have fun and go with the flow!
