Bourbon + Boweties

Monday, January 28th, 2013

It was inevitable that we would fall in love with this new local favorite. Who are we crushing on lately? Bourbon and Boweties. Handcrafted bracelets made with carefully selected stones and gold plated wire. The beautiful stones come in just about any shape or color you desire! We adore the Bourbon and Boweties motto too, “Made by PROUD southern hands.” A perfect fit for the Lowcountry lifestyle. These bracelets are a great addition to your bridesmaids styles, they make wonderful gifts, and they can even be customized! We’ve got an arm party started over here at ACB, do you?

We’re Smitten!!

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

A Charleston Bride had the honor of teaming up with stylist Alexandra Munzel and photographer Evan Laettner to style and shoot two wedding looks for the September/October edition of e-magazine Smitten. Launched in July 2011, Smitten is the “look book of wedding fancy”- containing beautiful photography, layouts, and real wedding editorials.

On July 27, A Charleston Bride joined Ms. Munzel and Mr. Laettner at the Legare Waring House at Charles Towne Landing to create a non-traditional yet still attainable look in both attire and setting. Ms. Munzel styled the models from head to toe with gorgeous gowns, jewelry, and shoes, as ACB created different sets with furniture provided by GDC Home Furnishing.

“It was so great to work as a team with both a stylist and a photographer,” ACB’s Carrie Glasscock said of the shoot. “To step outside of our typical wedding planning pattern to create something solely stye-driven was a lot of fun.”

We extend our thanks to :

Your ‘do for the “I do”

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

Location- check. Flowers-check. Music-check. Dress-check. After months and months of planning and anticipation, it’s finally the big day. But everyone knows that as important as a perfect wedding is, the thing people are going to remember the most is how gorgeous the bride looked.

Enter our talented hair and make-up professionals to make the sure the bride is absolutely as stunning as she can be. Carrie McCleod of Paper Dolls Wedding Hair and Makeup calls herself a “hopeless romantic” and can’t get enough of wedding hair and makeup.

Though brides are naturally gorgeous without makeup, Carrie makes sure yours is flawless

“I love when a bride looks at herself in the mirror when I’m finished and I can see in her smile that she loves the way she looks. There are so many touching moments that I get to witness and be a part of at every wedding that I do. I think that my absolute favorite is when the Dad sees his little girl for the first time and starts to cry. Every girl deserves to find love and every bride deserves to feel beautiful on her wedding day!” Carrie says.

Short hair or long, accessories or veils, Carrie can do it all

Another of our favorite stylists is Tanesha Dupree of Affair Hair by Tanesha, who discovered her gift for cutting hair at 13 (the age most of us are just getting over cooties).  Her hair styles are well, works of art.

Tanesha's hair promises to take you from the red carpet to real life

“Hair has always been one of my many canvases and my brushes mirror those of any great artist.Making hair beautiful has always been “my thing” long before I knew it was “my thing”. As a child it was “something to do” but as an adult it is “what I do” and I hope I have the pleasure of doing it for you,” Tanesha says.

Tanesha's do's have gotten more compliments than the dress

Celebrating her tenth anniversary making Charleston brides beautiful with Moore Make Up, Leslie Moore is a makeup artist with a mission: make every woman look and feel her absolute best.

Leslie Moore wants you take people's breath away by being the most stunning bride ever

Leslie says “Something happens when a woman feels radiant, confident, and absolutely beautiful…something happens to them on the inside- it’s like a switch or a spark. I feel if I am lucky enough to have anything to do with that moment, or better yet, if I have the opportunity to instruct them how to get that on their own…then that’s what it’s all about. That’s the big picture!”

Go Mod With Geometric Prints

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

Our bride from last weekend gifted her bridesmaids with cute clutches from Oatmeal and Lace, an adorable online boutique that specializes in custom clutches and other handmade goods.

It just so happens that the clutch below is in the same exact pattern that one of our brides has chosen for her wedding this upcoming weekend!

This modern geometric pattern will be used as table runners, pillows etc.

She has also chosen another similar geometric pattern for her save the dates, invitations, and for the signage.

Since her fiance is a professional wake boarder, he had the great idea of using an actual wakeboard to be signed by their guests.

We even got the pattern on the wakeboard!

Talk about original!

We love their creativity – the possibilities are endless…

Charleston Fashion Week

Monday, March 28th, 2011

Fashion Week was founded in 2007 and has quickly become one of the premier fashion weeks in North America, showcasing fashion designers, retailers and models.

We got dolled up on Tuesday night and went to check out the scene…

Here we are with Luke Wilson of Luke Wilson Special Events, grabbing a drink at O-Ku before the show.

We had such a good time. I mean, how could we not! Look how good our seats were! Many thanks to our friends at TEC for the front row tickets! You robots really put on a pretty spectacular production. :)

The featured designers that evening were the vintage inspired Children’s Clothing Designer, Barbara Beach and the ever fashion forward Jamie Lin Snider. Both put forward fabulous collections.

Unfortunately, we missed out on the Spring Bridal Show Saturday morning as we had a wedding of our own. But we heard some really great feedback from friends. Some local bridal designers include:

HEIDI ELNORA – Featured Designer

BELLE COUTURE – Local Designer

BELLA BRIDESMAID – Local Designer

MODERN TROUSSEAU – Local Designer

Perfect Bridesmaid Gifts

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011

After bumping into some  perfect bridesmaid gift ideas, we couldn’t resist blogging about them.

We know jewelry is typical, but let’s be honest, what girl doesn’t love jewelry?

These jewelry companies, however, add a little touch of personalization to help show your appreciation.

Dee Ruel Jewelry :

Dee Ruel hand crafts one of a kind and special wedding invitations and wedding jewelry for brides and her best ladies. Everything Dee works on is budget and time oriented. She takes pride in creating works of art that will not break your wedding budget, even if your special day is weeks or days away. It is like a breath of fresh air. Feel free to stop by the studio or email her to make an appointment.

These are some pictures of pre-made jewelry taken from her website to show you her style:

Stella & Dot

We love Stella & Dot not only because their jewelry is stylish, but it’s affordable. That’s probably why the media can’t get enough of them. These necklaces, bracelets, or earrings would make perfect bridesmaid gifts and the best part is, all of them will be different. By changing the base, adding a birthstone charm, or a whimsical charm, you will have created a one-of-a-kind creation to fit each of your bridesmaid’s personalities.

The gold charms are dipped in 14kt Gold

Pick your base (chain, leather cord, bangle) and add your favorite charms to create your very own signature style.

We have just shown 2 options. Go to the Stella & Dot website to see all your choices. They even have charm earrings that you can design!

Helen Ficalora

Helen Ficalora has a wider variety of charms than Stella & Dot. However, it does come with a price tag. Not only does Helen offer letter charms, she offers heart charms, sea-creature charms, and yoga charms etc. Since the launch of her line, Helen Ficalora has also been gobbled up by the media.

Even though Valentine’s Day is over, love is still in the air. We wish it was Valentine’s Day every day! What girl doesn’t love getting spoiled with flowers, chocolates, and romantic dinners?

That’s why we can’t get enough of the girly hues – the reds & pinks remind us of ol’ St. Valentine. We thought we would share a  few of our favorite inspiration photos . . . .

Sweet…

Sexy…

Sultry

These dresses would make FAB bridesmaid dresses.

Feel free to mix and match different shades of pink

Choose a modern pattern, such as this lattice, in a buttery soft fabric to cover your tables.

The lines will create a sleek look that offers a fresh alternative to traditional linens.

Be bold! Pucker up with some classic red lipstick.

You can never go wrong with Chanel. Just make sure you pick a red that doesn’t make you look like Ronald McDonald.

We like: Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick 14 Passion

And don’t forget about your nails! Try: Blushing Bride by Essie (how perfect is that?)

1 more must-have

. Last, but CERTAINLY not least…

Red, red Wine

Try this Cabernet Sauvignon: Clos du Val ($23)

According to the Wine Enthusiast: “Tastes sweet and jammy in fruit, with cherry-blackberry, cocoa and cedar flavors and satin-smooth tannins. Finishes with a bite of tartness.

We Just Can’t Get Enough….
